🧠 About the Certified Peer Specialist (CPS) Role

The Certified Peer Specialist is part of the Peer Support Team, which offers recovery-focused services for adults (18 years and older) dealing with serious mental health or co-occurring challenges.

📝 Responsibilities

  • Help individuals identify their current needs and steps to meet their goals while imparting hope through the sharing of the personal recovery experience.
  • Collaboratively document individual progress in the Electronic Health Record.
  • Support individuals in community engagement and socialization activities.
  • Model and promote skills required for education, employment, community integration, and independent living.

🎓 Qualifications

Education

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Successful completion of the Pennsylvania Certified Peer Specialist (CPS) training program approved by the Pennsylvania Certification Board (PCB)

Licenses and Certifications

  • Current certification as a Certified Peer Specialist (CPS) through the Pennsylvania Certification Board (PCB) is required.

Experience & Skills

  • Strong interpersonal skills with a nonjudgmental, client-centered approach
  • Comfortable with digital tools and basic technology use (tablets, phones, computers)
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team

Other Requirements

  • Valid Driver’s License and a good driving record.
  • Subject to the requirements of the Child Protective Services Law.
