Get Involved
These are the qualities we help people strive for and achieve every day as they face and overcome tough challenges. It’s hard work even in the best of times — and insufficient funding, complicated regulations, lingering stigma and societal stressors can make efforts to improve community mental health more difficult for us and for the people we serve.
Yet we have an unending supply of hope thanks to the caring individuals who support our work and the well-being of our clients through their advocacy, volunteering and generous donations.
Whether you, a family member or a friend has struggled with emotional or behavioral health challenges or you simply appreciate the value of strengthening mental health throughout our community…you can make a difference today by getting involved.
Become an advocate
One in five people lives with a mental health condition — yet many don’t get the help they need to thrive and live their best lives. Organizations such as the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) are dedicated to improving the lives of millions of Americans affected by mental illness by advocating for better crisis response, service delivery, legislation and funding.
Learn more about how you can make a difference through our local NAMI chapter — a terrific resource for education and advocacy work.
Join an event
In addition to the events we sponsor, we connect the community to regional events that benefit mental health and the work of our partners and advocacy organizations. Whether you join us for our fun bingo or trivia nights or support broader advocacy efforts through such events as NAMIWalks, participating in local events is a great way to get more connected and help!
Helping Hands
Proceeds from fundraising events at Central Behavioral Health benefit Central’s Helping Hands fund. The Helping Hands Fund is available to offer support for small projects or needs that help enhance service to consumers of Central. The funds are used to help groups of clients through one of our many programs at Central Behavioral Health with such things as social outings, therapeutic supplies, medical supplies not covered by insurance, transportation costs for new jobs, to name a few. Applications are submitted by Central programs for review.
Make a donation
The COVID-19 pandemic brought to light the urgent, growing need for effective emotional and behavioral health services. While the public health emergency’s extra funding and temporary regulation waivers enabled more virtual care and other nontraditional service delivery to reach more people, we find ourselves responding to requests for help from more clients in dire need of support without sufficient insurance coverage now that the emergency declaration has ended.
Existing federal, state and county funding and health insurance reimbursement for behavioral health services only go so far. And no one is ever turned away because they can’t afford our services — so this makes contributions to our work even more essential.
With additional funds, we can do much more to help people improve their well-being throughout the community we serve. Your gift can help us:
- Hire additional therapists, licensed clinical social workers, psychologists, psychiatrists, administrative staff and program coordinators to meet the extraordinary demand for our services
- Serve more people in need
- Enhance existing programs and services and develop new ones to address evolving community needs
